Melissa Wong is originally from Coquitlam, British Columbia. She now lives in Calgary, Alberta where she recently graduated from the Alberta College of Art + Design with a BFA [Hons.] in fibre. Wong’s current studio practice is an exploration of the body through the processes of tapestry weaving and needlepoint lace. Her interest in the relationship between textile processes and the body is rooted in her affection for Biblical textile metaphors, and her amazement at the intricate and intimate way God has “knit” together the human body.
Impending Mending (named after her series of paintings as per the recommendation of her lovely studio mate, Lindsay Joy), is a place for her to record her thoughts, share her process, and chronicle the things she does and hopes to do.
